Does anyone know of a portable generator that is under 9" in height that could fit in storage...?
...space in my camper van?
I bought a 2001 Leisure Travel Van in Sept (Dodge Ram Van 3500). It did not come with a generator. I'd like to take a portable generator with me camping, but am having difficulty finding a place to carry it. There is a storage space on the side accessibile from a door which is a little over 8.5" high. Haven't seen any generators this short. I don't want to carry it inside the coach because of the gasoline smell. I can't carry it on the back bumper or trailer hitch rack because anything there would block rear access through the back door which also has the spare tire on it. Any ideas?
It seems to me that the best folks to ask this question of, would be those who manufacture and sell such devices. I would, were I in your van, do just that, and I would also contact the folks at the Chrysler Corporation, to see if they have any suggestions or solutions for you.
Also, there are "camper clubs" on the Internet that you can join, either for free, or for a moderate fee. In these online clubs are discussion forums where you can connect with other campers, some of whom may own a 2001 Dodge Ram Van 3500, or who may be at least familiar enough with it, that they can provide a solution to your problem.
