Can I tow a lightweight camper when using a hitch mounted cargo carrier?
When using a hitch mounted cargo carrier – is it possible to have the outer end (away from the vehicle) of the 2″ hitch tube punched with holes so that you could use a second drawbar and tow a lightweight camper??
The Dry weight of the Camper is 1090 – with 975 cargo capacity – making the GVW just over 2000 pounds.
I was contemplating having my trailer frame redone to incorporate a storage platform… but the hitch mounted cargo carrier would be more useful.

No, it's not possible to use the shank of the carrier as a receiver tube. Cargo carriers are not designed to be used like that. At that point you would have the load of everything you put on the carrier plus the tongue weight of the trailer and you would exceed the weight limit of the carrier.
Adding a storage box or platform to the trailer would definitely be a better way to go. You could also look into a cargo box or carrier mounted to a roof rack on the tow vehicle.
A 3rd option would be to add a hitch to the back of the trailer and attach the cargo carrier there. You would need to contact the trailer manufacturer to see if the frame could of the trailer could handle it. You would also need to make sure you do not reduce the tongue weight of the trailer too much.

Hitch mounted lifts can be used on most any type of vehicle: cars, trucks, SUVs, vans, minivans, and RVs.
Wheelchair lifts range in prices from a few hundred dollars to several thousand dollars depending on the type and intended use. In general, the vehicle lifts are less expensive than the vertical lifts. Hitch mounted lifts are the least expensive because they require the least amount of installation and electronics. Portable vertical lifts are generally the most expensive due to their size and portability.
