Bumper mounting sufficiency?
I bought a used ranch hand style bumper and I can only get two 1/2 inch diameter bolts in to the brackets on each side. This makes me kind of nervous since the the original bumper had like 5 or 6 on each side and I will be pulling some trailers with the reciever hitch on the new bumper. I want to make sure the bolts are sufficient but will still break if I get hit hard enough from behind like it's designed to. The current bolts are grade 5. They are 2 or 3 inches apart. The only reason I'm concerned is the bumper kind of creaks when I stand on it. I can jump on it and it's fine but I'm afraid i'll hit a big bump with a heavy tralier and have a major problem. I'm open to suggestions or ridicule for being too concerned.
try drilling holes to get a couple more bolts into it on each side.two bolts on each side is only good for a ton or so.
