RV Experts - Please Help! Can I tow this 5th wheel with my F-150??
I have a 2005 Ford F-150 Lariat with a supercab, 5.4L V8. The door sticker indicates a GVWR of 7050 lbs, Rear GAWR of 3850 lbs and a Front GAWR of 3600 lbs.
The Ford 2005 RV & Trailer Towing Guide indicates that the maximum loaded fifth-wheel weight for my model of F-150 is 8,600 lbs.
I'm looking at a 2007 Flagstaff Classic Super Lite 8528RLSS. The hitch weight on it is 987 lbs, axle weight is 5361, dry weight is 6348 and GVWR is 7987.
Can I tow this? Thanks!!!
It's doable, but you should of had a paper that told you the exact weight your's can handle as axle ratio, cab style and all determine actual carry strength.
You are near the limits of the truck with the flagstaff fully loaded.. you can tow it, but I think as you drive, you may think the vehicle is slow on acceleration and such.. if you are willing to take less acceleration power for towing, yes you can do this...
Most people I refer them to v-10s or diesels as most I know are speed demons even with the campers.... But I've towed about 4,000 pounds on a f-150 and did notice a decrease in flooring take off speed but it did the job beautifully.
