Liberty uhaul trailer weight towing question..................?
2006 Liberty 3.7L V6 with 2WD/RWD with this hitch..................

with a 1970 VW bus on the trailer. Can I use the trailer? Thanks
Well, after the first answer, I had to look because I got scared. VW bus 2699lbs + trailer 2000lbs = 5699lbs. Jeep liberty: curb wt 3825lbs, GVWR 5350lbs, max trailer wt (GTW) 5000lbs, max trailer/load/jeep combined weight (GCWR) 9850lbs. So, this is inside one limitation (GCWR) and out of the other (GTW) by 700lbs. Yes, the trailer and load weight are more than the liberty by 1175 lbs but ok by the owners manual with 826lbs to spare.. Conclusion: this would be pushing the extreme limits but possible. FYI: I have heard reports of a liberty with a 18ft trailer loaded to 12000lbs driven 35 miles with no damage (not reccommended).
Add the 2,000lbs of the trailer and the weight of the VW, which I would bet is a lot less then your Liberty, then look in your owner's manual for the Jeep's towing capacity. If it is the same as our 2005 Grand Cherokee it will tow up to 5,000lbs.
