What do I need to tow a trailer and where can I get it?
I have a 2004 Chevy Silverado 1500 2WD and want to trailer a small fishing boat. I already have a trailer hitch, the problem is the trailer lights. I have nowhere on my truck to plug in the trailer's lights. There is a little door on the bumper where I think the outlet should be but there is no outlet behind it. I was told (and wasn't really paying attention) I only needed a four-way plug (?) but that I should get a seven-way one (???) and a four way adapter in case I ever want to tow a bigger trailer. I would like to know: ONE: What it is that I need as far as wiring on my truck and TWO: Where I can get it.
Look in your phone book under trailer hitches, or hitches. Look for Hitch world, or sometimes U-haul. Places that install hitches also wire vehicles for lighting.
