Reese 37042 trailer hitch will it fit my 1998 s10 reg cab short bed? (6 foot bed)?

On the side of the box it says will fit 98-04 s10, but inside the manual it only has instructions for a long bed (7 foot).

i dont wnat to rip apart the back end and bumper only to figure out it wont work on my truck.. what do you guys think?

I ran the part number through our dealer database. It is an obsolete multi-fit hitch and fits a bunch of different vehicles. The listing in the database is as follows:

"Chevrolet, S-10 Pickup, w/Standard Box & Step Bumper, Inc. ZR2, Highlander Pkg. & Crew Cab"

I gather that it won't fit the short box. Instead, check out Draw-Tite # 75085. There are plenty of other hitches that will fit, you'll just have to find the right one according the bumper and bed style.
