How can i bring in more customers?

I own a auto and heavy truck repair facility. We do everything from engine to transmissions on both cars and heavy duty truck. we also have the technology to diagnose and repair anything from BMW to FORD. But things have been slow the past 3 weeks, i know it is like this in many places thou. There is a tire shop about 5 mile more in town and they stay packed 24/7. All they do is tires and small service stuff like brakes and oil changes, they actually send major stuff to us! Well any idears on how i can get there customer number. O we do not do tires by the way, but alot of people have told me that tires them self's do are not worth alot btu the work it brings in is. Any suggestions?

Have you ever heard of the silent shopper? You need to get a friend that does not work for you and go the shop 5 miles down the road. Have him scope out the prices and all the services that he provide as well as the cost. You might need to offer smaller jobs.

1) Once you get the information provide the same services at a discounted price just to lure people into your business.

2)After you complete your service about 1-3 weeks later send out a thank-you card with additional coupons if possible and a survey. (on what the customers are looking for, let them decide if they want referrals, bonus points, are just discounted prices but let them decide try to give them a deadline and once the deadline ended mail out what the consumers ask for) and please react upon it.
