Burley Makes A Great Pet Trailer: The Tail Wagon, Is it Worth the $400 Price?

Burley bike trailers are among the best built, dependable and long lasting trailers that one can buy. The company's Burley Tail Wagon is no different as one of the best Dog Bike Trailers. The big question considering this product is being fairly costly,  is the Tail Wagon worth for a retail price of almost four hundred dollars?

Burley's reputation for long lasting, quality products extends to their Pet Trailer. The construction is super solid and rated at a seventy five pound maximum capacity, good for two medium or one large sized dog. On the road, the trailer is super stable due to sturdy side Battens and low center of gravity. The 16 inch alloy wheels are long lasting and as well made as the wheels on my hybrid. Along with a suspended floor, this makes for a comfortable, safe and secure ride for Fido.

Viewing an  eBay listing for a pre owned Tail Wagon, there were a lot of bids and the resale value was up to about 70 % of retail,  not much difference from brand new. Considering the fantastic quality and superb construction of the Tail Wagon, this isn't much of a surprise.

Assembling the trailer is very fast and simple and hitching it up to a bike is not a problem at all.  There are many options for setting up the trailer: it can be towed entirely enclosed, open or somewhere in between. As your dog gets confident riding behind, you can try opening up the top cover for a bit of exposure when you sense your dog will comfortable with this change. Open or closed, the Burley is well ventilated so Fido will stay cool riding on those hot summer days. When not riding, the entire trailer folds down to a reasonable size and can easily be stowed in a corner. For extra convenience, the Tail Wagon has a removable floor and a flip down tailgate. This is handy for older dogs with mobility problems who need a little help entering and exiting the trailer.

The trailer has plenty of cargo pockets for carrying goodies for you dog and power bars for when you need a bit of help powering up hills. Alternatively, the trailer can do double duty transporting loads such as groceries and packages with its solid floor. The only issue with using the trailer for cargo, after riding in this roomy, luxurious Pet Trailer, your dog might not want to be left behind at home while you're out.

I'm fairly sure that as opposed to buying a lesser quality product which may break after a season of riding by deciding on a Tail Wagon you'll save  money in the end. In addition, the solid build and features of the Burley will make an enjoyable ride for you and your furry pal.

HOW BURLEY GOT ITS START:

Back in the early 1970's Burley got it's start in Oregon by duo Allan Scholz and his wife Bev. The pair started as a small business, selling bike bags at a Saturday market in nearby Eugene. Alan created and constructed a well made trailer so he could carry his daughter and merchandise 30 miles to the marketplace via bike as they desired to travel car-free. After checking out his trailer at the market, shoppers started inquiring if they could have a similar one made. Allan and Bev started turning out Bicycle Trailers for sale and the company grew over the following decades to one of the best known bike trailer manufacturers.
