semi trucks shows
im trying to find routing software for semi-trucks without GPS?
my dad is a truck driver. Hes been trying to find a mapping program that shows semi-truck routes. but he does not want GPS. Something like mapquest for truck drivers.
* Microsoft Streets and Trips is very good trip planning software. It is used by many people just for trip planning (but it can also be used with an optional GPS receiver/antenna).
The program is not aware of truck-specific roads, or low bridges, but many truck drivers use it nevertheless.

* DeLorme Street Atlas is also a trip planning software. Some users believe the map data is inferior to the above mentioned Microsoft product, but it offers more features.
Neither this one offers truck-specific routing.

* ALK CoPilot does offer truck routing, but one cannot fully rely on it. You should cross-reference your route with trucker's atlas. I'm not certain if ALK CoPilot is suitable purely for trip planning, as it has been designed to be a GPS navigator first, unlike the first two programs mentioned above.
