ohio no through truck signs, what is true by law definition?
Fayette county Ohio have posted no through truck signs . Farmers with semis don't think the signs apply to them just companies. Signs are posted on county roads to protect the roads and people. At harvest they have to get out of the fields and thats ok. It's the rest of the time and hauling for others without puco number or tax decal. Deputy stopped me and said a truck is a truck and that was on a short two lane state highway. We have signs on our road and also a 40,000lb bridge limit sign but there only ignored and our sherrif does NOTHING. Most of the problem is trucks from other counties using the signed county road that is parallel to a legal state route 734. There is a hard right turn onto rt41 in Jeffersonville but I guess most are not expereniced enough to make the turn after all money to buy truck and licence is all thats requried for farmers. Anyone else must have training and a CDL licence.
Unfortunately there is a great deal of trouble in this area. Local municipalities put up signs to discourage things but it is usually ignored by the local people and local law enforcement. The problem comes in when a hot dog officer has an Axe to bear or wants to push there weight around. It gets really difficult when you are an out of towner and don't know and someone tells you to take a certain route. The ones I hate to see is the engine brake rules that places set for no reason. They need to go after the illegal exhaust systems but it is the noise and they think that all engines brakes are loud. There really does need to be some sort of unity on what rules they can and cannot impose. It is crazy all over the country not just Ohio.
