flex fuel vs premium unleaded?

I am in the market for a new truck. I need something heavy duty with all the bells and whistles. The Silverado Crew cab has available FlexFuel. Will I get the same performance out of the truck using E85 compared to Premium Unleaded?

Ethanol has a slightly lower energy density per gallon than gasoline. Therefore, you will get slightly lower fuel economy using E85 than premium unleaded or regular unleaded..

Personally I don't see why any heavy-duty truck should require Premium fuel. Its not a highly-tuned engine, its a big low-tech powerhouse. Using premium seems to be a waste of your money.
