Where can I find the gear ratio for my truck?
I recently bought a used truck and may be needing some parts for my rear differential. It has had work done on it before and now the tag on it has been cut off. Where can I find the gear ratio for my truck?
I have a 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT, 4x4 with the heavy duty rear end, and automatic transmission.

Remove the rear cover (oil will come out), and count the number of teeth on the ring (big) gear, and divide by the number of teeth on the pinion (in the rear) gear, and it will give you your ratio. Example: 40 teeth on ring gear, 10 teeth on pinion = 4.00 ratio,
