Can I put 99-01 floor mats into a 1998 Audi A4?? Will the fit be OEM?!?

Hi all!! I bought a 98' Audi A4 back in august, and the mats that came with it were fine to use then, but now its winter time here in the NE, and I was looking to upgade to some OEM rubber ones...my problem is that I've searched all the websites, and the only mats the companys' offer are for the 99-01 body style. I assumed that the 98 and the 99 were the same body type, but I went to the dealer the other day, and he said that the 99 mats would be too long for my car and would interfere with the pedals?!! So, IDK, either he just doesn't want to deal with my order, or he's right....I just really want to spruce up my baby(the car!lol). Thank you for any and all help....xoxo J

1996-2001 A4s were, for all practical purposes, the same car. I would say "pedal interference" would be minimal. ...And they're rubber, right? I wouldn't see any issue with doing a little trimming on the floormats. if it were necessary. Other than that, I cannot see how '99-'01 floormats could possibly be too long for the '96-'98s, seeing as there were very few structural changes to the vehicle. My best advice: buy them. They'll be fine.
